Kai Bay Otten

Kai Otten started training at Ananda Martial Arts in 2013. Otten studies Taekwondo, Hapkido and Traditional Weapons—as well as Five Realms Meditative Movement. They have attended several AMAFA summer camps, events and tournaments, and is a camp Junior Counselor. Assistant Instructor Otten earned a Taekwondo 2nd Degree Black Belt in May 2021, and a Hapkido 1st Degree Black Belt in May 2023.

 

Otten graduated in 2023 from Berkeley High School, and is attending Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. They have played the violin for 10 years, and mentors other music students. Otten likes to write and is working on a novel series, "Dream Dance." For the last five years, they have studied Mandarin and have traveled to Taiwan. Some of Otten’s favorite healthy snacks are blackberries, jade cucumbers and broccolini.

 

Assistant Instructor Otten says that one trait they have developed while training at AMAFA is Balance, “not just in my physical posture, but how I work on my school work, and interact with my family and friends.”
